Located in one of the most beautiful spots in the south of Madeira, nestled within the tranquil villa district of Caniço de Baixo, about 50 metres above sea level, are the Galo Resort Hotels featuring the Alpino Atlântico Ayurveda Hotel (non-smoking, adults only) and its sister hotels Sentido Galosol and Sentido Galomar. The bay is just approximately 2.5 km from the centre of Caniço and is situated on the climatically favoured side of the island. Enjoy the subtropical climate, which is perfect all year round for an Ayurvedic retreat. The centre of Funchal is about 12 km away, and the airport is approximately 8 km away.

Dining & Leisure
Experience exquisite Ayurvedic cuisine (tridosha, vegetarian or predominantly vegan) in buffet style with lactose-free or gluten-free alternatives. In the evening, enjoy a light dinner according to Ayurvedic guidelines. Feel free to savour your meals on the sheltered terrace overlooking the Atlantic. With selected treatments (including Panchakarma and weight management), you will receive delicious menus tailored to your individual dietary plan. Attention can be specifically paid to allergies and intolerances.

Wellness, Spa & Fitness
At the sister hotel Sentido Galomar (approximately 400 metres away, Adults Only), you'll find a wellness area with panoramic saunas and relaxation zones. Additionally, the sister hotel Sentido Galosol (about 500 metres away) features an outdoor pool, an indoor pool (about 28°C) and a whirlpool, as well as a sauna area with a Finnish sauna, Turkish steam bath, bio sauna, and sensorial showers.

The bathing cove in the underwater national park is equipped with direct sea access and a seawater pool, accessible via a lift or stairs.

Ayurveda Center
At the ASHOKA Ayurveda Therapy Center, under the leadership of Birgit Moukom, you will be lovingly and professionally cared for by trained Ayurveda specialists from India and Germany, along with 15 experienced Ayurveda and TCM therapists. Facilities include 8 treatment rooms and an Ayurveda shop. Treatments are tailored individually following a thorough medical history, using oils made according to traditional Ayurvedic recipes. Many of the herbs used are sourced directly from Madeira or even from the hotel's own herb garden. Enjoy a familiar atmosphere where you can feel at ease. Translation services (English/German) are available upon request. Psychological elements and consultations can also be integrated into your Ayurveda treatment for an additional fee. Osteopathic and TCM treatments are also available (for a fee).

The associated yoga room, approximately 120 sqm in size, offers a fantastic sea view.

Ayurveda workshops are usually offered on Thursdays, and the Ayurveda cooking/nutrition treatment typically takes place on Sundays.

Free Time
The garden, complete with loungers and parasols, as well as the herb garden, offers a serene space to unwind during or after treatments. To explore the island further, a nature excursion in Madeira, including forest bathing, can be arranged for a fee.

Additional facilities include a wind-sheltered terrace with views of the Atlantic, a panoramic lounge with a fireplace, and a reading corner. The amenities of the Galosol and Galomar hotels are available to all guests (approximately 400-500 m away). A roughly 2,500 sqm public, professional fitness club with qualified trainers, cardio equipment, a multipurpose sports hall, squash courts, personal training (for a fee), and about 48 fitness classes per week is available at the Hotel Galosol.

Sporting activities and entertainment, such as the in-house diving base with diving school (March to December), fitness classes, the hotel's own mountain bike station, and kayak rentals, are offered at the Hotel Galosol, about 500 m away. Other outdoor activities, such as swimming with dolphins, can be booked on site.

The nearest 18-hole golf courses are located in Palheiro (about 8 km away) and Santo da Serra (about 18 km away). A discount on green fees is available on request.
